The Blue Planet Evaluation

The second documentary i am reviewing for a background for my projects soundscape is the BBC documentary The Blue Planet. I have looked at both the documentaries episodes and the production of the entire documentary hoping i will get a better understanding for how to put a good underwater soundscape together.

I found that the Blue Planet used more natural sounds to enhance the sound effects of the soundscape to make it a more enjoyable listen experience for the viewer. All the sounds i heard while watching the first four episodes every sound i have heard has been crisp, clean and realistic.

Where as With the documentary The Dangerous Sea was the other way around being that the sound effect were used as the more importing sounds for that programs soundscape, which made the viewing for myself very uneasy and distracting as the natural sounds were being savorily over powered

I feel that on the whole the viewing of The blue Planet was far more pleasurable that when i was watching The Dangerous Sea as the whole program seemed to flow that little bit better , as very thing show on screen was complimented by the sound playing behind it as every scene change was flawlessly match both in imagery and sound.
