Learning Contract 1st Draft

Project Title:

Sound on land and sea

Project Aim:

Project Aim:  To investigate mammals hearing range and how they hear sounds underwater which will allow me to recreate a soundscapes that represents what they hear.

Objectives:

1.0   Research the size difference between a human ear and underwater mammals ears including hearing range and functionally.

2.0  Gather sound effects of both environments and using all the research evidence I will be able to accurately define what the differences are between the two and use all the data to execute my next task.

3.0  With the data gathered from my research I will create two soundscapes showing the massive differences between the two living environments

4.0  Create two animations to coincide with my soundscapes which will provide a       visual aid.

Methodology:

      1.1 Research Diary

1.1.1 Review all journals, books for information on ear functionally.
1.1.2 Review all journals, books for information on frequency range.
1.1.3 Review both natural and city centre environments.
1.1.4 Reflect on all the information I have gathered and write a literately review.

2.1 Gathering Sounds

2.1.1 Identify the most popular sounds from the two environments.
2.1.2 Calculate the differences between two environments.
2.1.3 Review the differences between the two frequency ranges.
2.1.4 Write a small review of my findings and calculate exactly where
my sounds find into the opposite soundscape.

3.1 Soundscapes

            3.1.1 Set up a recording session (x2).
3.1.2 Place the sound effects into the session.
3.1.3 Pitch shift sound effect to the correct frequency for each soundscape.
3.1.4 Draw up a cue sheet for sound effects (x2).
3.1.5 Export audio files to wav and write a critical evaluation of the process.

4.1 Animations

4.1.1 Draw a small sketchbook for two short animations.
4.1.2 Finalise my design for the animations.
4.1.3 Put my finalised idea together in Flash.
4.1.4 Add soundscape to finished animation.
4.1.5 Export animation as a video file and write a critical evaluation.

Submission Deliverables:

1.1 Research Diary
·         A detailed report on all research that I have undertaken.

2.1 Gathering Sounds
